Diving configuration
Hardness is primarily selected from body weight. Diving ballast is not added to body weight. Wetsuit buoyancy changes with depth; ballast and suit thickness provide context, not an automatic reason to choose stiffer blades. BlackTech’s approximate reference testing configuration was a 5 mm wetsuit and 4–6 kg of weights.
Joint comfort alternative
Based on BlackTech’s practical experience, one softer available hardness may feel more comfortable and reduce unnecessary joint loading. This does not guarantee pain or injury prevention. For an active injury or ongoing pain, consult a qualified healthcare professional before diving.
Recommended foot pockets for deep diving
Lightweight pockets may reduce unnecessary mass on the feet and make demanding or repeated ascents more comfortable. Select only a model verified compatible with your chosen BlackTech blades. Foot pockets do not change blade hardness or guarantee safe ascents or prevention of hypoxic blackout. Deep dives require training, correct weighting, conservative planning and a qualified safety partner.
